Help & how to

A quick walkthrough of how everything works.

Getting started

When you sign up, you get a 14-day trial with full access. No credit card required.

To add your first book, hit Add Book in the header. If you have the ISBN (that number on the back cover), type it in and click Lookup. Either the 10-digit or 13-digit version works. We will pull the cover, page count, and other details from Open Library automatically.

No ISBN? No problem. Just type in the title and fill in whatever you know. You can always add an ISBN later from the book detail page.

Your library

Tap Browse to see everything you have added. The alphabet bar at the top lets you jump straight to a letter. You can also search by title or author, or filter by reading status.

Your collection is private. Only you can see your books. Want to tell someone about a book? Hit the Share button on any book detail page to send the title and author via text, email, or any app on your device.

Plus users can export their entire collection as a CSV file and import books from a CSV. Look for the Export and Import buttons at the top of your collection page. Imports are limited to 500 books per file, with a maximum of 2 imports (1,000 books total).

Tracking your reading

Every book can have a reading status. Here is the typical flow:

  • Future Read means it is on your list.
  • Reading means you have picked it up.
  • Read means you finished it.

Want to re-read a favorite? You can start a new reading log for the same book. Each re-read gets its own entry with dates and a rating.

If a book is not working out, mark it DNF (Did Not Finish). You can optionally note why. No judgment here.

Ratings and notes

When you update a book's status, you can give it a rating from 1 to 5 stars. Ratings show up on your book detail page and feed into your stats.

There is also a Reader Notes field on every book. Jot down thoughts, favorite quotes, whatever you want to remember. These are just for you.

Your stats

The stats page shows you books read per month, genre breakdowns, rating distribution, and a reading timeline. You will find it under Browse → Stats or by going to /stats directly.

Stats start to get interesting once you have a few finished books with completion dates. If you have just started tracking, give it a bit of time. The more you log, the more useful the charts become.

Want to show off your reading habits? Use the Download or Share buttons at the top of your stats page to generate a branded image card with your key stats — books completed, pages read, average rating, and more. Perfect for sharing on social media.

Free vs Plus

The free plan lets you track up to 10 books. That is enough to try things out and see if it fits how you read.

If you want unlimited books, Plus is $3.99/month or $39/year. Check out the pricing page for the full comparison.
